Main disadvantages: The room was however, a bit tired in it's finishings. The hotel refurbishment work was disturbing when hammering, drills and deliveries of wood etc made significant noise at 7.00am each morning. This was a disapponting aspect. Staff made no enquiry as to how we enjoyed our stay which would have given the opportunity to give immediate feedback. Enjoyable overall.

Main advantages: The location of the hotel is superb. We enjoyed the grandure of the historical aspect of the hotel's origins. The decoration in the main areas was very grand and eye catching. The Grand Cafe was a lovely setting for breakfast which offered excellent variety and high quality. Our bedroom was a good size with a balcony and a good aspect.

Main disadvantages: We requested an early morning (5 am) wake up call to go to Airport, but never received call. When brought to the staff's attention, we received no apology, just a shrug, which was out of character for the hotel and its service related staff.

Main advantages: Excellent hotel, elegantly furnished, classical style, good food in Grand Cafe, comfortable beds, fine bed linens, spacious room and bath, wonderful storage space, Bulgari toiletries ... A first class hotel.

Main advantages: It was very centrally located, right on the main shopping street. Staff were helpful, and the room was a good size. The bathroom seemed to be brand new. Breakfast was an enormous buffet, which cut down the need for a large lunch - saving money to spend on other things in Oslo.

Main advantages: We had booked a normal double but were upgraded to a beautiful room with double-doors facing Karl Johan. The room was newly renovated and absolutely lovely. I have never in my life slept in a more comfortable bed. Wonderful breakfast in a breakfast-restaurant with tons of atmosphere. Can`t complain about anything. Loved every minute of my stay.

Main disadvantages: A bit noisy if overlooking the street but the view is worth it. One night there was a party in a neighboring suite and that was really noisy till early morning...

Main advantages: Wonderful breakfast, central location, elegant style, nice and helpful personnel. We had an upgrade from deluxe to suite and would like to thank the hotel for such a pleasure!

Main disadvantages: As an old hotel it needs redecoration, and that is done, but in some of the rooms I have stayed in it does not seem quite finished. E.g a cupboard has been moved, and holes left and not painted, or tiles are left with holes because a peg or something has been removed. If ot had been my home, it would not have been like that, it seems the handyman has left without finishing the redecoration.

Main advantages: Excellent breakfast served on the ground floor with a view to the main parade street in Oslo - Karl Johan.The location is excellent, wether yiu want to go shopping or sightseeing.
