Main advantages: The Inn is actually a set of rooms on the 5th floor of a mixed use building - typical set up for Rome. The location is excellent absolutely opposite the Rome Opera House only 5 minutes walk from Termini Station. Don't expect a neon sign though. You need to look for a small brass plate on the left of the large doorway. Once inside, you go to the small office on the right and you will check in and be escorted to the room and shown how to use the key-card to get into your room. The card is also used to access the street door. There is a small kitchen outside the rooms with tea and instant coffee you can make for yourself free of charge. The room and bathroom looked newly renovated and were very clean. The shuttered windows open if you prefer fresh air. You can get free wifi at the cafe on the ground floor at the main entrance of Termini Station.

Main disadvantages: There was a 'state of the art shower' in the bathroom but the water pressure and temperature (at times) was disappointing to say the least. Run the water for a full 5 minutes before you get in! There is also a communal drinks-making area which is fine if you buy your own milk. I found myself comparing the Starhotels where I stayed in August. This was cheaper but the Starhotels wins hands down on facilities and convenience, including breakfast of course. All in all, I think I will pay the extra and enjoy the greater comfort of Starhotels next time.

Main advantages: The location is excellent, directly opposite the Teatre Dell' Opera. It's about 5 minutes walk to the train station though you do have to walk for 10 minutes through the station itself to reach platform 27/28. The hotel is a bit quirky, you'll know what I mean if you travel in the lift, and there is no wifi in rooms which is a bit inconvenient for Internet users, iPads, etc. Emiliano is a lovely bloke, very helpful and courteous.

Main disadvantages: Reception was a little late opening on our final day but they appeared 10 minutes later so no problem.

Main advantages: A clean, friendly and quiet hotel which wasn't too expensive (for Rome!). Note that if you turn left out the front door and walk 50m there is a Carrefour express on the opposite corner (go in and down the stairs) - a supermarket which is good for cheap lunches/wine/beer etc etc. If you like walking then everything is in range from the Vatican to the forum - metro close by otherwise.

Main advantages: The room was immaculate, a little smaller than most hotel rooms but certainly adequate. The shower was excellent as was the location for a city break, to see the sights.

Main disadvantages: The room was tiny, but I was not looking for luxury. All worked OK, but the air conditioning could not be adjusted for temperature.

Main advantages: Excellent location - just opposite the Opera. Almost all attractions are accessible on foot, and there are lots of restaurants around. Very convenient for the train station and the coach to Ciampino. The hotels feels secure with electronic keys. The room had a giant TV, but only 4-5 channels.

Main advantages: A little gem of a place, we looked right onto the opera house...ok there are no restaurant/bar facilities but lets face it it's rome you just had to look out the front door and there was plenty to choose from. Felt very safe and secure and the free cappacino next door was lovely not to mention the pastries (yum) clean, comfortable, helpful and a great central location. Don't miss drinks/food at bar viminale across the street on the corner, good times lots of fun there...would definitely recommend
