Main advantages: Nice modern hotel in the middle of the city centre, 5 min walking distance to the castle.

Main disadvantages: Meals were far too expensive and did not encourage people to use the
hotel facilities. Parking should be able to be booked and ideally should
not have been over and above the costs which were not cheap.
Main advantages: Excellent location where we didn't need to move our car from throughout
our stay. We were upgraded at no extra cost which was really nice and
the staff were excellent throughout.

Main disadvantages: Have not had any bad experiences other than the main bar running out of a couple drinks.
Main advantages: Nice relaxed surroundings presented to a high standard at a reasonable price. Perfect location for our City Break with easy access to all trhat Edinburgh has to offer. Only dined in the Heights Restaurant for breakfast but this offered good food in an excellent location with 'to die for' views of the Castle.This is my second visit to the City and this Hotel and would definitely return here again - a view firmly supported by the friends we brought on this trip.

Main disadvantages: Only one working lift with no signposted access to stairs as an alternative during a very busy weekend. This meant long waits going too and from the room. No spaces in the hotel car park.
Main advantages: Well situated, comfortable bar, fabulous view of the castle from the breakfast room friendly staff.

Main disadvantages: We tried to have a meal in the bistro which was far from busy at the time, but the service was poor. The bread we ordered never arrived, my broth was weak and tasteless, the chicken in both our main courses was undercooked and the accompanying potaoes were cold. We couldn't eat it and sent it back prefering to find somewhere else to eat.
Main advantages: The location in the heart of Edinburgh and on the Grassmarket was the main reason we chose the Apex. The staff on reception were excellent, very curteous and helpful, room was spotless, warm and quiet and the on site parking was good value for a city centre.

Main advantages: I liked the location, close to the shops, attractions and night life. The car parking was reasonable compared to other city hotels in the area, which were either expensive or not available.

Just one problem arose when we ordered a plate of chips or wedges as we were in a hurry. It was accompanied by a plate of wedges with a hamburger and more chips

Main disadvantages: The bathroom could do with updating (and more attention to cleaning - we found two long hairs in the bath/on side of bath and the toilet could do with some bleach maybe!) The bedroom is good, with lots of power sockets and free wi-fi which is good. Floor between laminate and carpet needed attention (the metal runner between was very loose). If you request anything when booking, like champagne in your room on arrival don't expect it to be there (no doubt they would have put it there if I asked for it, but we decided not to bother) - unfortunately we then had to wait a few minutes extra in reception whilst they sorted out why we were charged (then we missed our train which was in front of us on arrival at the platform... seconds late!)
Main advantages: Breakfast choice nice, spacious bedroom, right in the Grassmarket of Edinburgh so close to tourist attractions. We've stayed at both Apex hotels that are virtually next door to each other in this area. This was the better of the two. Nice toiletries, drinks tray, mineral water. The pool looked nice though we did not have time to use it. Windows opened and comfortable temperature. Nice big curtains and a huge LCD TV (excellent picture). Iron and huge wardrobe space. All in all rooms certainly ok.

Main disadvantages: Having excessive queues for breakfast ( one morning almost a 30 minute wait), and then finding that breakfast was a haphazard affair, with staff clearly overwhelmed by numbers.

Main advantages: Its location was perfect for concerts at the Usher Hall and many of the Fringe events. Grassmarket is also a buzzing location at Festival time.
