Main disadvantages: No sheltered and seated smoking area! That would put the cherry on the top.

Main advantages: I have stayed at the Saphir Lyon many times. I love the relaxed atmosphere and wonderful helpful staff. My lack of French has never been a problem, even when some of the staff did not have a word of English!

Main disadvantages: Rooms could be improved by adding safes and refrigerators.

Main advantages: The hotel was a good value. Rooms were clean and cheerful, the staff was generally helpful. The "Express Breakfast" is a nice option. Location was good for driving - near A6 - and we were able to park in the garage for our entire stay. It is on the opposite side of the Fourvière hill from the center of Lyon, so walking isn't practical. But the Métro station is close and the system is modern and efficient.

Main advantages: Best Western Saphir Lyon is in an ideal location for taking the Metro into the city. It takes only a few minutes to walk from the hotel to the station - where you can buy a day ticket to use as many times as you like - not only on the Metro but on any other forms of transport in Lyon. Getting around the city is made easy. When we made our initial reservation - we got a special weekend rate - but there was so much to see - we booked a further 2 nights - even though the tariff was more - it was worth it!

Main disadvantages: There were no details about car parking. We were given beds, towels etc as there were 3 of us staying, while the booking clearly stated 5 people. Room allocation mix-up perhaps?

Main advantages: Easy access to the motorway. Good value for the money. Staff helpful. Room was exactly as expected (except extra beds which were supplied after we notified reception). Double bed very big and very comfortable.

Main disadvantages: The resteraunt lacked appeal and the one meal taken there was not of a good standard. However, there were several good alternative places to eat nearby.

Main advantages: The hotel was comfortable and quiet for a city location. It provided good transport access to the main routes and was close to the local facilities. Secure parking was a must for my stay and this was very convenient to use. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Main disadvantages: I would have liked to have a fridge and a safety box in the room.

Main advantages: I liked the cleanness of the room, the air conditioning worked perfectly and the beds were very comfortable. Everything in the bathroom worked well too. It was closed to restaurants and to roads to go out.

Main disadvantages: The room service was supposed to be working until 22h but when I called a bit after 21h the chef has already left and we could get no food. The pizza place next door was essential in the given circumstances :)

Main advantages: Nice spacious room and bathroom, very good quality. The location is very good since it is not in the center but is one metro stop from the old town and 2 stops from the center. The metro station is really close. The area is nice with a cosy italian restaurant just next door. If you are by car it's much easier to stay outside of the center in Lyon for sure.

Main disadvantages: Watch the price of wine at the bar and in the restaurant. One member of our group was charged £7.00 for a glass of white wine, nothing special either. Weekend evenings can be noisy if you have a room overlooking the front of the hotel, as locals take their time to amble home shouting and singing.

Main advantages: The hotel is located outside the centre of Lyon but just a few minutes journey by metro will take you to the main square in the centre of the city. The hotel provides a good, basic, no-frills service. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The hotel is set in the Gorge de Loop area, but no wolves were heard howling in the night, only the sound of birds singing at dawn and if you looked from a front or side window towards the wooded hills, you will note that woodland and habitat have been preserved. In the afternnoon and early evening, swallows swoop and call to each other. A lovely part of Lyon for a visit and basically good value for money, as there are several boulangeries and restaurants close by.

Main disadvantages: Nothing really but room a little dated

Main advantages: staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and serviced well. Quick 2 stop trip on metro to city centre. Underground parking free and very secure and wide bays but difficult for us to traverse. We stayed 2 nights which was relaxing and gave us time to prepare for the next leg of our journey.
