Main disadvantages: There is not much we can say to complain, other than the fact of having
to listen to the staccato beat of rain and wind against the metal
surfaces surrounding the windows kept us awake during the evenings of
high winds and driving rain.
Main advantages: When we first booked the hotel the novelty of staying in a former prison
intrigued us and we found the Hotel Katajanokka met and exceeded our
expectations the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and did
their best to try and order a pizza for us after our late arrival since
the kitchen was closed. Our room was very well designed with very modern
furniture, a comfortable bed and an ingenious shower that we both
enjoyed very much. The whole atmosphere with the staff in black and
white striped attire with a written description of the history of the
place was a nice attention to the well planned effect that the hotel had
upon us. Although we were there mainly for business reasons, we did
enjoy the whole city of Helsinki and will return again and stay at this
novel and welcoming hotel. We might also add that the breakfasts were
the best we have ever enjoyed anywhere. The quality of the food was
second to none and we enjoyed the fact of having our juice in prison
style tin cups was a nice touch.

Main disadvantages: There was pretty chilly in the room and the conditioner wasn't turned on
Main advantages: Close to center, very good service, facilities (sauna, fitness, free
internet and printing facilities in lobby), excellent breakfast,

Main advantages: The hotel offers comfort and iundividuality. The staff are extremely
helpfull and proffessional. The hotel oozes character. I did not eat a
main meal in the restaurant but the breakfast provides a more than
adequate wide selection. I wil most certainly return to Katajanokka when
in Helsinkil and readily recommend it to colleagues and friends'

Main advantages: The location is near the downtown and there is the tram number 4 in
front off the hotel that goes to the city center in 5 minutes. Also it's
a 15 minute walk to the centre. The hotel looks very nice, the rooms are
very comfortable, and the setting is unique. The breakfast is very good
and abundant.

Main disadvantages: can't think of anything. if only a bit less expensive (but Finland is not cheap in general). Book ahead, look for specials.
Main advantages: - Excellent location in old town: an island just to the east of the main harbour - 10 min walk from the center-center of town.
- Spirit: former prison, skillfully remodelled but a lot preserved.
- New, clean, functional, perfect comfort.
- Great breakfast in the basement.
- Helpful staff (they urgently printed my docs (50 pages) free), were helpful to answer questions, etc.

Main advantages: Verry nice hotel. Tramlijn stops in front of hotel, so you are in 5 min in citycentre. Staff was very helpfull and nice. I'll definatly come back to it.

Main advantages: Hello ! I have to I have to leave on an hours notice and I really
appreciated the way hotel staff helped me. Its a Theme hotel which is
converted from a real Jail to Hotel so it must been tough for the
architect to change it but the job is very well done. Breakfast room is
the Special attraction of this Hotel. Must visit ...! Kind Regards

Main disadvantages: Windows in the rooms are very high up, so practically no view
whatsoever. The location is quite a distance from the city center (not
nice to walk in freezing temperatures), but luckily the tram stop is
right next to the hotel, the trams are frequent and it only takes some 7
minutes to the center
Main advantages: Quite a unique building, have not stayed in a former prison before.
Premier room was nice and big. The atrium was impressive, just like you
imagine a prison atrium in a movie, only a wee bit jollier. Excellent
breakfast.

Main advantages: I loved the interior of the hotel and of the rooms in the hotel.

Main advantages: The prison conversion is very good. At every spot from inside the room to the jailbird restaurant you can feel the presense of the old prison. City's number 4(not 4t) tram from the center, has a stop right in front of the hotel enterance. And being very close to viking line cruise ships station is a plus if you plan to take the cruise to stockholm.
