Main advantages: We loved the Adler Hotel! Its smaller size made it feel very personal. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well designed with classic touches. The staff was very helpful, courteous and cheerful. We had an excellent gourmet dinner in the Adler's restaurant on our last night, which was the best meal of our 11 day stay in Spain. The neighborhood was excellent for window shopping and ease of finding taxis to get around town. We would definitely stay at the Adler again.

Main advantages: Everything about this hotel is perfect. Location could not be better..no "touristy" things in sight. The staff is gracious, the rooms are lovely, very tasteful. I would not consider visiting Madrid without staying at the Adler.

Main disadvantages: The hotel did not seem to be too environmentally conscious in that towels barely touched were changed twice a day, etc. In my opinion, it is a totally unnecessary practice in today's world. Also, one of the two rooms we were in had only one small window.

Main advantages: The hotel was perfect for me in that it was luxurious in an understated way with unique decor and ambiance. The location is great because it is in a relatively quiet neighborhood yet not too far from the center of the city. I loved walking around the neighborhood full of shops and restaurants.

Main disadvantages: I had to look at four rooms before I could find a real double bed for a couple that wasn't two singles pushed together, and in a room that I thought wasn't old fashioned and dreary. Some of the hotel rooms are renovated and these are much nicer. But even in our nicer room,there were surprising if minor issues. For instance, the bathtub didnt look new and wasn't inviting for a bath, only a shower. And you can't plug in your phone and computer without bending to the floor. So twice a day you find yourself bending or sitting on the floor reaching behind the desk. Ouch. There is not a hook in the bathroom for a wet towel, because the hooks are covered with big robes, so you have to climb back into the tub area to put it on a rack, this is inconvenient. The fruit basket was not replenished daily; it was on the first and second days, and thereafter we were in a dwindling situation. We got little chocolates some days and not others. The room also smelled like smoke, perhaps the maid is a smoker.

Main advantages: The staff were wonderful and the lobby was gorgeous, though the rooms were not as gorgeous as the lobby. On the positive, they were helpful and friendly and the place is centrally located. The windows really do keep out the street noise and the AC worked and was quiet. The bathroom was big with a bidet, very good. Good water pressure. Free wifi is great. . There was a marvelous fruit basket upon arrival and good chocolates, both sometimes replenished but not always. There was an umbrella in the room which turned out to be useful. We did not try the restaurant. They provide big terrycloth robes.

William Surfers Paradise, Australia - Group tour

Main disadvantages: Breakfast over priced for what it was. Euro 16 for plate of bread rolls and sweet breads, coffee and orange juice. Only ate 1/4 of the offering. Euro 27 for complete breakfast i.e. cooked.

Main advantages: The very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble
