Main disadvantages: If you want to have a fancy place serving Gourmet food, this hotel is
not the place you want to go, but facilities (including a pool and a
sauna), food and service are all good enough for short family breaks or
business travels.
Main advantages: Excellent value for money, very friendly for families travelling with
young children! Please know that Wifi costs 5 Euro per day, not 12 Euro
per day as indicated in the website.

Main disadvantages: The hotel is clearly a popular base for coach groups and, though the
hotel copes extremely well with this, it does make the restaurant
somewhat canteen-like and noisy at dinner time even if the food served
is both good and good value.
Main advantages: It is a large hotel with friendly reception, its own car park
(theoretically payable but we were not asked to do so) and with well
appointed and clean rooms. Monschau is a small village and the hotel is
not dead centre but that is more an advantage than a disadvantage given
the number of week-end visitors from Belgium and Germany and the
consequent congestion in the centre. The buffet breakfast was excellent
and, despite large numbers of guests, the service was attentive and
efficient.

Main disadvantages: The hotel is used by Coach Parties . There were 2 there with us and frankly swamped the hotel facilities. With only one elevator and the Restaurant on the 3rd floor and Swimming pool on the 5th floor there was a constant wait. Our toilet actually smelled which is almost unheared of in Germany. We checked out after one night and did not take up the second booked night.
Main advantages: Very good and welcoming reception from Vanessa. Excellent pool facilities. Food and bar well priced.

Main disadvantages: Rather gloomy atmosphere. Bedrooms well-appointed but charmless. Huge
dining area gave off atmosphere of canteen. Breakfast ok, but we had
much better in other parts of Germany.
Main advantages: Pleasantly situated in the Eifel forest, a very short walk from the town
centre. Rooms clean and well-appointed, if rather lacking in charm.

Main disadvantages: The fact that staff was speaking only German. The music of the New Year's Eve- only German songs??? The quality of the rooms (furniture, size, facilities) does not exactly correspond to a 4 stars hotel.
Main advantages: The nice and friendly staff, the warm welcoming of the hotel owner, the programme of the swimming pool (open untill 22.00).

Main disadvantages: The temp of the pool water could have been more warm ( I was there
during December.)
Main advantages: The village where it is located is very charming. I also liked the
cafe/bar within the hotel. The pool is a good size and enjoyable. I hope
to return to Monschau and the Carat Vitahotel someday in the future as I
thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Margaret Brussels, Belgium - Rest with children
Main disadvantages: Very bad tv reception when the weather is bad and (paying) satellite tv
not working, only German programmes. Not great in the winter when
evenings are long. Not really 4*.
Main advantages: Close to the village, dog friendly. Nice breakfast buffet.
