Right beside Charles Bridge in the historical and cultural heart of Prague on the Mala Strana side, you will find this 700 years-old building housing a luxury hotel. Hotel information

The building now housing the Hotel Residence Lundborg used to be called "U modre'ho Iva" which means "At the Blue Lions". The very first note about the building dates from 1336. A few decades later King Karl IV ordered the construction of a new bridge to replace the Judith Bridge, which was destroyed by a flood in 1342. The remains of Bridge Judith can still be admired at the entrance, in the dining room and in the wine cellar of the hotel.

During the last hours of the 30 Years' War the Swedes were stopped at the Charles Bridge 1648 in Prague. The building was probably renovated or additions were made around 1770. The beautiful paintings on the ceilings of many rooms probably derive from this renovation.

Room information

The hotel offers accommodation in exquisitely styled suites of varying sizes, exuding a charming historic atmosphere. The smallest one has 30 m², each has its own kitchen and a spacious bathroom with jacuzzi, a bedroom and living room featuring a computer with free internet access. All rooms are air-conditioned and almost all of them boast superb views towards Charles Bridge.

Food & Beverage

The hotel's Blue Lion cafe and bar is a great place for night-time activities or for a warm-up during daytime, serving delicious coffee and hot chocolate, home-made pastry and specialities of the Czech cuisine.

You can also make a reservation in our wine cellar, serving a wide range of interesting vintage wines together with some cheese or Swedish specialities. The cellar features an original extant part of Judith Bridge - the oldest stone bridge in Europe.

We can also arrange wine tasting sessions, private (cocktail) parties and the like in this inviting place in the heart of the Golden City.

Area information

All interesting places such as Prague Castle, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Lesser Town Square, Wenceslas Square, the Powder Tower and the State Opera are within walking distance. The National Theatre, the National Museum, the Exhibition area or the Congress Centre are easily and quickly reachable by taxi or public transport.

Main advantages: Stop Looking. As a seasoned traveller I have stayed in central Europe on many occasions. The Lundborg, without doubt is the most wonderful of establishments. The location and lodgings are wonderful, with spacious and modern rooms. The most remarkable is the staff - cordial and strikingly honest (they returned 2,000 crowns to me after mistakenly overpaying for theatre tickets.) The hotel overlooks Charles Bridge, and is easily accessible to the city's attractions. You will come back to Prague, just to stay at the Lundborg.

Main disadvantages: Very few English channels on TV

Main advantages: good breakfast served until 11am.Free internet. Jacuzzi bath fantastic.nice to have a separate living area with hi fi as we took some of our own CD's and a kitchenette.

Main disadvantages: There was only one issue regarding comfort in the hotel.The double bed turned out to be a sofa bed- not clearly specified in the website. This was unsuitable for 2 adults or two teenagers to sleep on.

Main advantages: Central location beside the Charles Bridge. In the Mala Strana area of Prague.Warm and welcoming on a chilly weekend. The suite was spacious and lovely and warm in November snowy weather. Lovely decor and lots of space. A computer with internet for us to use. Really friendly staff. Good breakfast.Very helpful reception staff allowed us to leave our luggage until it was time to go to the airport.

Main advantages: This is a fantastic hotel. Beautifully decorated. Rooms were generous in size and had tasteful artwork on the walls. Service was excellent. The breakfast was delicious, and plentiful. Location, you couldn't ask for better, just overlooking the Charles Bridge. If you get up early enough, you can step outside and have the bridge to yourself, a dreamy experience!

Main disadvantages: If you take the room for 4 persons, they'll give you two double beds comfortable and a sofa-bed, that can be really uncomfortable, for me it wasn't a problem and the rest of the hotel compensated this.

Main advantages: The location is perfect, is just below the Charle's bridge and have a beautiful seeing, specially at night.

Main advantages: This was a great hotel overall and I would recommend it to anyone! The location was amazing; the front door was 10 metres from Charles Bridge. The room was large and very clean and the breakfast was good. The front desk staff were helpful; when we asked them to direct us to a theater, they took the initiative to call and see if the show we wanted to see was sold out. When it was, they found another theater for us and made us reservations.

Main advantages: All staff were very friendly and helpful, despite some occasional difficulties with translation. We had a problem with our bathroom, which resulted in us being moved to a better suite. This was done without hesitation, once it was established the problem could not be fixed.
