On the 15th October 1893, the Hôtel Angleterre welcomed under its roof the very first hotel management school of the world - the famous 'Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne'.

Food & Beverage

The hotel offers an attractive choice of dining experiences.
Restaurant L'Accademia:
Trendy and much talked about restaurant with its own street entrance. Perfect for hotel guests and locals. Fabulous atmosphere in a contemporary space. Classic Italian menu with a modern twist. During the summer days you can enjoy the magnificent lakeside terrace. Fantastic for lunch or dinner.

It is open everyday for breakfast from 07:00 to 10:00, lunch from 12:00 to 14:00, and for dinner from 19:00 to 22:00 (last orders).

Le Bistro:
The bistro serves light meals, fabulous penne al arrabiata, perfect salads and wine by the glass.

It is open everyday for lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner from 19:00 to 22:00. Drinks are served from 07:00 to 24:00.

La Voûte:
La Voûte, a former wine cellar, offers a unique ambience within historic walls and is perfect for a refreshing cocktail, appreciating a glass of wine or for a private get together.

It is open everyday and drinks are served from 11:00to 24:00.

Cancellation
If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and extra beds
All children are welcome.
All children under 11 years stay free of charge when using existing beds.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.

Main disadvantages: Choice of buffet breakfast a little narrow. Slightly confusing car park system needs improved information for guests. Strange, separated reception area has doors that are far too narrow for transporting luggage in and out easily! A pretty obvious problem that could be easily fixed. Reception was pretty slow to attend, considering only 2 guests were checking in at that time.

Main advantages: I was slightly nervous as I had reserved just a standard room and anticipated something rather small and basic. What I got was a fantastic, spacious room in well restored and beautiful old building. Well equipped and clean. Grounds around hotel are beautiful, access to city and transport very easy. Underground car park had plenty of space and hides cars away from view. Nice and quiet at night. Great lake view at breakfast.

Main disadvantages: Although it was a non-smoking room, cigarette smoke came through the vents at all hours of the day and night. It was so bad that we were getting up late at night to open a window and air our room out.

Main advantages: The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were interested in the wine country walk and she looked up a lot of info on the internet for us.

Main disadvantages: The pool is too little, the water isn't so warm as well the places to stay. No cigar-lover area, no garden to relax (there is only a little garden con two tables and eight chears, if it's raining you couldn't smoke any place. It's unbeliavable in a 4-star Hotel. It's quite comfortable (in a sunny day) to relax the bar area of the restaurant L'Accademia.

Main advantages: The locations is very nice and romantic, wonderful wiew, enough quite to have relax, very good italian cooking at L'Accademia ++++++++++++ Very good and modern the Gym. The staff of the L'Accademia is the top: you can never find a better crew! (We had dinner just the 1st night, at The pic: it was our most frozen-feeling experience in all life...).

Main disadvantages: Booked a room with lake view. The hotel is at lake level, but it was difficult to get a room with a fabulous view of Lac Lemans (Lake Geneva) and the mountains. The first room had a partial view to the east and the next room (I requested a move to a room with a better view) had too much visual debris (restaurant awnings, cars, roadway, boathouse, etc) to see the natural view of lake and mountains. A room facing the lake on higher floor most likely would be best for view. Breakfast is very costly if it isn't included in room rate.

Main advantages: Rooms are nicely appointed. Reception staff was always available and very accommodating. Breakfast was included because I booked with booking.com. Breakfast was very good. Transit pass included in room rate.

Main disadvantages: The only gripe we had were the number of steps we had to climb to get the building where we were housed. Once inside there was a lift, but it really wouldn't suit anyone with severe mobility issues.

Main advantages: This was a fabulous hotel and it was made even better by the fact that we were upgraded to a junior suite. It was lovely to have a swimming pool and the restaurant was very good.

Main advantages: Treated us well. Great location. Incredible Italian restaurant at hotel. Excellent breakfast. Strongly recommend with families and with older children. Safe and accessible to transportation.
