Built in 1913, Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof is located in the centre of the first district of Vienna, only a few steps from the Hofburg Imperial Palace. It offers free Wi-Fi. - or take the S-Bahn (commuter train) to the stop Landstraße. Switch to the U-Bahn line 3 towards Ottakring and alight at the stop called Herrengasse. The hotel is located to the right of the U-Bahn exit.

Main advantages: Staff were very friendly and surpassed our expectations in everything. The food in the bar and restaurant was excellent, and some of the best we had during our stay in Vienna. The ambience and style of the hotel oozes class and elegance, but in a modern way. A fantastic hotel, fully recommended.

Main disadvantages: Cleaning could be done better. We asked for a less soft pillow but they had only one type. A very soft one

Main advantages: Excellent location. In the middle off the city but also very quiet! The hotel is next to the subway. Our room was comfortable and sunny. The reception and the concierge were excellent.

Main disadvantages: We tried all type of coffee and we didn't like it at all, the mini bar is poor and the menu at a five star hotel is too short.The room was nice but a bit small.

Main advantages: Exellent location, hotel staff was great. We gonna use the hotel again if we travel to Vienna.

Main disadvantages: There is no doorman, and there is no slope for luggage, so clients need to carry their suitcases up very nasty stairs into the lobby.Bad start. There is permanent queue at the front desk, whatever time of the day, the staff is stressed. When you check in, still out of breath from carrying the suitcase up the stairs, check-in consists on insisting you take the completely overpriced breakfast. The room looked like if it had been stripped of its furniture, maybe it had. There was one chair pushed into a corner for 2, and a pouf that was stained. The room is huge, and empty. The beds are really incredibly comfortable. Then all the little things I like in a nice hotel were there but in a stingy way. There was one tea bag, for 2, there was 1 soap to be shared between the shower and the basin and between 2 guests. I asked for another one and it was like if I had asked the moon. There were no facial towels, no robe, and the towels were rough. The shower is nice but it floods the bathroom every time.To reach the toilet you need to cross the (flooded) bathroom. It is not very convenient. The queue at the front desk prevents client to ask any question. It would be nice on your first morning to get a few directions before you get out, but it was not possible. Not a five star hotel, but we did not pay a five star hotel price either, so for the price is was completely fine.

Main advantages: The location is excellent, the beds and dawn pillows and duvets and sheets are soo comfortable. The decor is a nice modern interpretation of Vienna styles, the lobby is pretty, design, modern and comfortable, it looks like on the pictures. Internet is free and works well. Tv too. The room is quite soundproofed, is big and roomy, with lots of lights (but dark at night). Cafe Central is next door for long Viennese atmosphered breakfast lunches and suppers. Museums and Hofburg Imperial Palace are five minutes walk on the other direction as well as some places for breakfast and dinner. Cafe Griensteidl is down the street.

Main disadvantages: There were no major problems. Just few bits - coffee / tea weren't topped up every day, and some part of the room ie. top of skirting board hasn't been cleaned for weeks. We didn't want to experience those in 4/5 stars hotel.

Main advantages: reasonable price, brilliant location, free internet, spa facility. Overall very good hotel.

Main disadvantages: The cost of breakfast at 28 euro per person is ridiculously over-priced and expensive. Even at 20 euro per person it's too much.

Main advantages: Fabulous location- the hotel's location makes seeing the top sites of the city very easy The hotel is very modern, clean and comfortable. Staff are very efficient and helpful. Our bedroom was perfect- beautifully designed and very comfortable.

Main disadvantages: I previously ask for connected rooms and early check in by email, but when I arrive they told me to wait for two hours and pay 90€ for early check in for the two connected rooms, after two hours they said pay 80€ for early check in for one room and there is no connected rooms!!! They let me waiting for two hours in the reception for no reason & I didn't get the connected rooms.

Main disadvantages: The additional cost of eur28 for breakfast was rather steep, and the range of food wasn't nearly as wide as i'd have expecetd at that price. Also, I was disturbed to find the floor of my room hadnt been vacuumed properly, I did mention this to the front deskand they said they would deal with it, but when I got back a couple of hours later it still hadn't been properly cleaned.

Main advantages: Great location, had a room on 6th floor overlooking the rooftops of Vienna. Staff were helpful friendly and courteous, the bathroom was same top quality as other Steinberger hotels. The hotel right beside UBahn so easy to get to, there is bike hire right outside front door and there is also a Vapiano next door for excellent reasonably priced pasta / pizza etc.
