Main disadvantages: Nothing - really cannot fault it.
Main advantages: The hotel was superb - even the standard rooms are quiet,with very
comfortable beds and spacious surroundings. The staff are attentive, the
bar and grill are both very pleasant and we had an excellent time
overall. I am sure breakfast would have been lovely but we had our
breakfast at the cafe next door which was excellent.

Main advantages: A splendid example of a Grand Hotel. Plenty of space in the public rooms
and no pressure to spend money while using them. Our room was excellent,
well furnished and maintained. Breakfasts were a highlight (probably
only one other hotel in the world serves Sacher Torte at this time).
Service was impeccable.

Main disadvantages: The interior of our room was quite modern with walls covered with mirrors and colourfull lumination in the bathroom. It didn't match the rest of the hotel (among our group our room was the only one like this).
Main advantages: Excellent staff, beautiful view from the room on the river side, very good breakfast.

Main advantages: Lovely hotel, great service, couldn't have asked for more. They even upgraded us to a superior room for no extra cost. But do check out the price of breakfast before taking advantage of their lovely breakfast buffet.

Main advantages: The staff were very courteous and spoke numerous languages so it made
communications easy. Also, they were very discreet and extremely helpful
with any issues and questions about the surrounding areas. The view from
my room were spectacular!!! Quiet, romantic, and close to downtown
historical Salzburg.

Main disadvantages: The rooms were quite dusty and old. In fact, we came to know (from the management) that only some rooms were renovated and not all unlike what was stated in the booking.com website. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet wasn't really a 5-star hotel standard.

Main disadvantages: The hotel bar and restaurant require a dinner jacket during the Mozart Festival. We typically travel with business casual attire for dinner and drinks at nicer locations, but we did not get to use these facilities. Please be aware of this if you like to enjoy a drink at the hotel bar.

Main disadvantages: Smoking is still permitted in public areas and this permeated to the rooms. Smoking is not allowed in Austria in public places but this is largely ignored and was a draw back at this hotel especially as it is a 5 star one with appropriate pricing.
Main advantages: The Christmas ambience was fantastic. We were made to feel like VIPs.Breakfast was superb; piano bar was excellent.

Main disadvantages: All staff were excellent, with the exception of the reception staff on the last day who left us standing at the check-out counter and absolutely ignored us. This was very disappointing and was in total contrast to the previous outstanding service. They even let someone else take out taxi which we had booked for transit to the railway.
Main advantages: Very comfortable room with a view over the river to the Old Town. It is a beautiful hotel in the best location on the river. The facilities, restaurants and bar are all of a high standard.
